Christmas Newsletter 2020
Since my last newsletter, I was furloughed in April and made redundant at the end of October from my graphic designer role at Gumball 3000, a job I really disliked. I had to move out of my flat in Brixton after nearly four years, due to a unsavoury landlord. I have mixed feelings about this, but I am staying optimistic with the prospect of finding a senior designer role at a new agency soon when some sort of normality returns from all the COVID-19 mayhem.
This year I have tried to stay busy with the remnants of my freelance work, having lost a large portion of my work being in the hospitality and music industries. I have completed three packaging jobs for Monkey Shoulder whisky, a mixing spoon slipcase, whisky bottle labelling system and CD packaging. I created a brand refresh for The Blast Bristol, designing all their clubnight posters and flyers, alongside limited edition t-shirts. I worked on multiple apparel design work for Critical Music, including their monotone range, radio show logo, tracksuits for 2021, and their Summer BBQ clubnight posters and flyers.
I continued my ‘Something Creative Everyday’ illustrations, continuing my pen and ink portraits and branched out into watercolours and a large acrylic canvas painting of poet, Roger Robinson. More illustration included a brutalist screenprint printed at Underway Studio, Brixton, and three typographical linocuts. My third linocut was a design submitted to Fedrigoni’s 365 2021 book, with profits going to Teenage Cancer Trust. I worked on multiple brand identities, including NearInk, a tattooist booking system, Daisy-Lou London, a Berkshire based jeweller, RunTingz clubnight, and Bristol Nights, a website setup to promote local independent businesses in the area. Finally I revamped my new website, which is now live! I ventured into motion graphic design... watch this space. Best wishes for a creative and prosperous 2021! Here is a round up of the blog posts I’ve created in the past year:
